A couple of weeks ago my wife asked if I would shoot a couple of the young ladies that board their horses at our place, along with their beloved horses and pet Golden Retriever. It was fun, and they were very pleased with the photos, which is always nice! Here are a few samples:

I like them all but, I think that #4 is my favorite because of the continuous curve from the rider down to the dog....

I agree... #4 is very nice! I think just a shot with the horse/golden conversation would be perfect. I can see the horse whispering... "..hey... at least they're not sitting on you!"

nice shots!

Nice job. All of them. Just a couple very minor picks. 2 & last one are cropped ever so tightly. I'd like to see a little more negative space in 2 and a little more of the horse in the last one. The third one would have benefited from both the horse's ear's up and it needs a little WB work. All of them I think could use a little curves adjustment for a little more "pop".

5th one is just classic!

Great job. These pretty young ladies should be pleased with these. Most importantly, your wife should be happy!

Thanks. Actually, that was a pretty hyperactive dog, and I was amazed we got him to sit still for a moment or two. The only way it worked was that he was actually on a leash, being held by the young lady on the horse (painstakingly removed later in PS ;) )

Very helpful feedback. Looking back through them, I think your analysis is spot on. Thanks very much.

Bit slow to reply, but they are super pics. Friesians are such photogenic horses, too. Lovely example.

I agree, beautiful Friesian and the young ladies look lovely, the subjects all relate to each other nicely in the images.
