For those of you who don't know the story behind these cars, they are a rare goodie from Japan land. Back in the glory days of WRC, these cars competed, and as a result they needed to build homologation cars to sell to the general public. In 1991 2,000 of these bad-boys were imported into the US, and in 1992 just 1,000 made it in. That's it, only those 2 years. It's powered by the same bits that power the 1st-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser...a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder backed up by an AWD drivetrain, 5spd manual trans, and in the case of the VR-4's, 4-wheel steering. This particular one is #550/2000, and is a pretty nice example. Here are some of my shots of it!

I especially like #7, but would crop some of the empty sky out, maybe right down to the green tree.

Awesome VR4... I have a buddy who drives one as well. I love #6 but would clone out the power lines and tower. Great set.

shame about the exhaust that ruins the whole thing but the rest of the car and pictures are excellent

I can't help but agree with you there. I'm not a fan of the exhaust either, or the rims for that matter. I definitely would have done it a little differently if it were my car, but oh well! :)

The owner of the car is originally from Texas, and the pics were taken in California. He is in the marines, and is stationed out here in Cali. We shot the photos on the military base where he is stationed, which was pretty cool!

Excellent photography! #s 4 and 7 are my favorites.
Adding the details about the car was a nice touch too.

This car is so clean, Texas cars dont get that rust like new england cars. I love Turbo, AWD and 4 doors cars with a passion.
I like 1 and 4 best.

Thanks guys! This car is the predecessor to the mighty Lancer Evolution. These bad-boys came first, then at some point Mitsu decided their turbo AWD sedans needed to be built on a smaller, lighter chassis.
