This is what I was getting at. Great can be many things: exposure, once in a lifetime, composition, detail....

It's been printed at 11x14 and looked fine. I wasn't aware that what size a photo could be blown up to was a factor in how good it was. It's either a good photo or it isn't.

Again, to you. Your definition of fine is also your opinion, which is fine. Some of us have different standards and opinions. It makes the world go round.

Leica M9

My 1D is a bit large to have as a walkaround. I wouldn't mind having a G12 or one of those mirrorless cameras with a pancake lens though.

I agree that it is a good shot, but that just means that we have similar criteria. Others might complain about resolution or say that the leaves are too green or who knows what. That's what 'relative' means, after all.

It wasn't my opinion. Someone bought it. It was theirs.

Fair enough. My point was that unless your shooting billboards, nicer, current point and shoots can take a nice photo. That photo was taken with a piece of crap 5-year old Samsung.

I usually take my 60D with 24-70mm and sometimes I bring along my 10-22mm. If you're looking at a walkaround camera that you carry all the time, my friend is using a Sony NEX.

I hang a SX-150 on my belt when I'm going no-place special. Was driving my grandson home the other day and noticed something at the side of a lake by his house <link (external link)>

I've been carrying my S90 around for the past several months, but I am still learning to use it. Somehow it just doesn't seem to be as responsive as a DSLR, and the lack of a view finder is something difficult to get used to.

Yah, that's one of the worst problems in switching IMO. I've gone to just using the P&S screen to generally frame my zoom, and simply depending on the camera settings to make the correct focus. I don't really know what I've captured until I see it in PP.

But my SX150 pics do PP pretty well; I imagine the HS models do also.

I went from using a briefcase to a backpack some time ago just to accomodate my (D)SLR. I carry it every day (along with my laptop) and 3 lenses. Now thats to and from work, if I'm out and about then its just the 60D with one lens attached and MAYBE another lens in my jacket pocket.

It's kind of an accessory
