Very nice...do you have any tips or tricks for getting your focus on the fighter and pretty much eliminating the fence?

The focus in these are awesome because I can see the cage but very faintly.

"A great photographer can take great shots with an Iphone but a mediocre photographer can ruin a shot with a 1dsmkIV. My camera is like the brush I paint a house with...I'm just looking for my detail brush, and a roller, and some high gloss paint, and a sprayer, yeah a sprayer would make things easier."

These are very nice! I'd like to know what lens you shot with (aperture especially) and if you shot autofocus. I find that fencing/netting can throw my AF off the slightest bit even once it knows where the correct focal plane is.

AI servo -Autofocus then tweak with manual focus. I was at 3.2-3.5 aperture, sometimes you cant get rid of the cage completely due to positioning. A lot of shooters w manual focus the whole time. Normally i try to focus either on the face or glove, and always keep both eyes open so you can see whats going on.

i was using a 70-200 2.8 at 3.2-3.5. AI servo w tweaks in MF. Definitively use the Focus limiting switch, that way your lens doesn't even try to look for the cage :)

Awesome stuff:)!

I was just looking at Mark Rebilas's UFC pics, and yours seem to be much sharper/clearer:

http://markjrebilas.com/blog/?p=13309 (external link)

Is that just due to the web resizing of the pics, or something else?

I'm not 100% sure, but by judging my the "over the top" angle of many of those shots I'd figure those were taken by the UFC's official photographer Josh Hedges.
