So I was deliberating whether to buy the 5D MkII Now or during Boxing Day. Most people were telling me to wait. But as a colleague told me, the price is already very low and chances are they'll just bundle it with stuff I don't really want.
I called Vistek, the store I enjoy going to most, on Friday, when my bonus landed in my account. He said they had two 5D MkII bodies. Original box (CAD$2299) and broken up box. I asked what the difference was. He said one is a box with just the body, the other is a box that had the 24-105mm lens, but the lens has been removed, for $1999. I said I'll take the $1999.
They had one left.
When there, he explained that they'll not be getting any more 5D MkIIs, as there's no supply, so they get a rebate to sell it in this way.
When I went home, checked and I indeed got the last one (they have numerous locations).
Now it looks like the $2299 one is $1999 ... I'm glad I got it now, as it might become very difficult to get one come Dec 26 in Canada.
