I have both FX-34 & FX-45 ball heads, replaced both the clamps but too lazy to take pics.

Max height is 127cm and min height is 43cm w/o head. So it's not the heightes't one, but for me (I'm 5.7") it forks Ok with the head. But it's a bit wobbly as a monopod, but it works somehow..As a tripod it's steady for that set up and Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 work well with it too.
Tripod is good - (IMO) - but the monopod not. - I tried quikly and I can get a sharp image with 70-200mm F4 L on F4, 1/25, ISO 800. It wobbles a bit, but works somehow as I sayd before.

I think I'm gona buy Horusbennu FX-9538M monopod.
Min height 38cm and max height 140cm.

.TS., have you used your setup in high winds? Any problem with vibration in windy situations?

I looked at them, but I am starting to look more at: http://www.hejnarphotostore.com/ (external link)

Especially, the multipurpose rails. Hard to find a L plate for my 40d these days. It looks like you can put two of his multipurpose rails together to form a L plate.

I'll vouch for hejnar, that's what I use for everything. Not the cheapest but they are very good quality and about as good as you get for the price.

For L-plate I would honestly recommend staying with RRS though. It's fit to the cam and you can leave it on all the time. The two rails joined will work but won't be something you want to just leave on all the time

What's the 2450? I don't see that listed anywhere. Or did you mean 2540?

My order (c2540tm) came in today. For anyone that's interested, I posted my initial thoughts here:

My offer of $280 was accepted. I took standard shipping. I still have five weeks before my trip, so I should get it in time, I would expect.

Hey, they made me pay $290!
