Can the 5D II Actually Keep Getting Cheaper?

I don't think this is a matter of not selling. I suspect they are clearing out space for the next generation 5D - there, I said it

B&H isn't setting the bar. Aden Camera in Toronto has had the 5D2 for sale under $2,000 for a number of weeks now. B&H has the Mark IV at $5,000 but Aden has had them for sale for weeks at $4,750.

Add to the equation that the U.S. dollar is higher than the Canadian dollar, and Aden's price is even cheaper.

ya, futureshop had it on sale as well for same price.

That's probably about right.

The camera has been out there long enough that Canon has made their money back on the engineering. There likely isn't $2,000 worth of material there, so the price can be that way as long as Canon wants it to be that way. Better to keep having people buy what's already made versus having it sit in a warehouse somewhere!

Yeah according to currency conversions, Aden Camera is 1923 USD, not a bad price
The company will call you to discuss secure shipping and rates, though, so unsure on what that costs one would incur on USA shipping.

Considering the B&H deal includes a 16GB Sandisk (who couldn't use more memory cards?) and free shipping, IMO it's still the better deal.

Yen 152,000 now in Japan at the cheapest place...cant believe it drops below 150,000 for a full frame.

Figures. I buy one a couple weeks ago and the price has dropped 300 or so. Now you guys are saying mkiii on its way.

No, is not.... Don't expect to see the markIII version until late next year.. We are still waiting for 1dx. Why in the world the 5dmarkIII will be released earlier???

That is probably true - I only purchase from a few reputable retailers in the states. I don't usually check retailers in other countries and do currency conversions and try to calculate shipping and insurance and the such. I did hear about a really cheap Mark IV in Guatemala - you should check it out!

All of the deals lately are pretty sweet!

Retailers are chasing fewer dollars, they have to get very aggressive with pricing to get consumers to spend those dollars.

I'm still waiting for the 5D2 to hit the $1500 mark for an excellent used copy. Have seen a couple sold near that range on Ebay in the last couple of weeks. Imagine the dip when the new model is announced... (hopefully soon)

Well it looks like I'll have to take my 7D back to Bestbuy.... because someone talked me into buying this kit! Only cost me $200 more and I get a FF body, and some useable accessories. Thankfully I'm a premier silver member of Bestbuy because I've had the camera over standard return policy, but it's going back.

Now I just hope I don't find myself dissapointed...
