It is not the FEC preflash, it is the command flash to the remote flash. Besides, who would want to do such a kluggy operation when wireless triggers are so inexpensive?

Who would want to? Anyone who doesn't have a wireless trigger on hand but wants immediate results.
If a "kluggy" operation was my only means, then I wouldn't mind as a short term solution.

Wow, I can see how trying to mix the flash settings this can get complicated and may ultimately not produce the results required. I like simple and would just use the same trigger on all flashes and shoot in manual mode. I have 4 Einsteins ans a cybercommander and love it!

I suggest you call Mr. Buff and order another trigger ASAP, just my opinion....
