Canon Direct has referb 7D for $1155.15. I have my 20D for some time now and this seems like a real temptation

How is the DOF any different from your 450D?

The 450D cannot do video of any description.

7D, 450D | 17-55, 10-22, 55-250, 50 1.8, 580EXII | YN568II | YN622 x3 | Magic Lantern | (Still) Jonesing for a 70-200 2.8...
Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!

Time to change my siggy. Bought from 2004ep on POTN and it looks good! So I unboxed this thing and my first impression was holy crap this thing is built like a tank. Compared to my t2i, its night and day. It feels so much less like a toy and like a real piece of machine. It's huge!

Then I mounted my 17-55 to it and WOW this thing is heavy. But dam it looks good around my shoulder. Still waiting on my CF card so can't really test it.

Why was I waiting before?! Why did I even have a Rebel. Good stuff!

Any tips?

Congrats! This is PRECISELY how I felt when I made the same upgrade a few months ago. Tip: Get David Bush's book on the 7D. There are a lot of little nuances that can cause issues and make you think it is performing poorly. Don't screw with the micro-adjustment unless you must. Set your AF on the back button.

Enjoy! It's a terrific camera.

Shoot RAW. Use DPP for initial processing of the files.

Took me quite a while to learn how to use it properly and get really sharp photos out of it (but I was upgrading from 6.3MP to 18. Your T2i isn't as big of a resolution jump).

Overall, the learning curve can be steep but there is a huge pile of information out there (and in here). Read it all, but don't forget to get out and use the camera.

Eh, DPP is a pain. I much prefer Lightroom.

That's funny. I feel exactly the opposite. I guess that's why we have both. :-)

Lightroom would be my program of choice if it weren't for the weird calendaring structure. I tend to edit files in various other programs like photomatix, Oloneo, or even from my laptop connected to the share drive. Any time I add or delete a file not through lightroom I have to manually tell lightroom to add it to the catalog, or have it re-catalog everything. I prefer the simplicity of something that sees everything in the actual folder and shows it to me instead of keeping a separate catalog file. I understand why they do it that way. It just doesn't work with the way I do things.

Congrats!!

I've had my 7D for just on 2 years now. Coming from a 400D I'm still amazed by this camera and I'm always learning new ways to use it in different situations. No interest in FF, if my 7D died today, I'd buy another one tomorrow.

Enjoy your 7D; it's a beast of camera!

Congrats!

Reminds me about the past, first i've got Nikon Coolpix 8800, i said WOW, this is a camera, then i've got 350D with kit lens, in beginning i didn't feel so much impressed but when i bought 50 1.8 and few Sigma lenses then i said WOW, but it didn't take me long after that and got 30D, then i said it was like day and night, and last i bought 1D2n after that and i hated my 30D and Rebel and never look back, i understand your feeling.
