Not sure if this counts, but the strobe here was in fact the security light on top of the garage I was shooting out of.

actually, in this shot the strobe that I had set up didn't go off. so that was a naturally lit shot. my bad.

im trying to learn more about the zoom and regarding when/when not to use it.

for most of these outdoor shots (such as that porsche)

-how far are your lights from subject, and what zoom length?

1 580EXII camera right and 1 YN565EX camera left.

Right flash was pointed at the front bumper about 10 feet away at 50mm zoom

Left flash was pointed at the side of the car with the same settings and distance.

Both shot at ETTL

Garrett, I saw that ferrari on flickr a few days ago and the pics look amazing. So is that Z ^^ makes me hate following with this lol. (esp since i hate shooting multiple cars. im just not good at it)
