Why is that so shocking?

POTN is full of amateurs with high-end gear.

Not only that. If I can rent a 400/2.8 for a weekend trip to shoot eagles then you can be certain that I'd rent a 300/2.8 if my kid was in a state championship and I could get sideline access.

It would be a shame if the owner of this car isn't a photographer...

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

A nice older lady with a Nikon and 300mm lens. I am not sure about the Nikon, but I know it is a 300mm because she told me after checking out my lens. (Yes, the hood is reversed.) She is shooting from the first landing of an observation tower stairway.

Here's one I took back in 2009 of the well-known landscape photographer Charlie Waite who was giving a talk at a gallery on London's South Bank. I originally took it with the Canon 40D and 18-75mm kit lens, and recently ran it through Topaz Labs' Lens Effects plugin to emulate an 85mm lens. This was after doing a slight desaturation job using blended layers in Elements 10.
