17-85mm is only good during the day or early evening for shooting or after that its jus too dark and hard to capture a video with it being very dark.

I like the 50mm but I find it a bit long on the T3i crop body.


So what are some other alternatives? anything between 14-30mm ?

The super tak is a great lens, but yes, a tad long for filming on crop. There are plenty of 28-35mm lenses out there in m42 mount though.

You can also go the manual lens route if you need a lens for dedicated video.
