The 55-250mm is a decent cheap lens, I wish I'd gotten one of those to start instead of the much more expensive yet unsatisfying 70-300mm IS. Adorama has them for $199. Target was blowing those out a while back for about $140, so check around for a deal on one.

Canon 60D, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8, Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS, Canon 10-22mm, Canon Extender EF 1.4x II, Canon 430EX II, B+W MRC filters, Pelican 1450 with dividers, Think Tank Digital Holster 10V2, 2011 Macbook Pro 15" i7 2.0 GHz 8GB RAM, Canon D10

With the current Canon rebates I got my craved 17-55mm f/2.8 and the 10-22mm, so with the 70-200 f/4L IS my 3 lens collection is about as complete as I can anticipate needing as a hobbyist...until someday when Canon makes an f/2.8L ef-s replacement for the 17-55 f/2.8 (maybe a 17-70 range f/2.8L IS ef-s).

If money were no problem I'd go for a 300mm f/4L IS and a 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro, but my usage of those would be so limited I don't see it being worth sprnding another $2100+ on them.

After getting the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mkII, I've been thinking about selling the 300mm f/4L IS. It just doesn't seem to fit the bill for me anymore. If you do get your 70-200 you may find that you don't feel you need the 300mm anymore.

I've already got the 70-200 f/4L IS and a 1.4 extender, so I agree with you that I don't really need the 300mm prime.

I also want the 8-15mm, but it's an extremely expensive toy to have laying around. I doubt I'd use it enough to justify the buy... For now :p

I'm craving the 135 I ordered from Adorama to get here. Hope it's as wonderful as virtually everyone says it is. I guess I have 30 days to find out. :-)

Merry Christmas, everybody.
