when equipment is list FAR below market value on CL, it is most likely stolen goods.

...or you live in an area with little to no interest in high-end photography gear...

Yeah... right... Do you honestly think that, or do you just tell yourself that so you can buy stolen goods without a guilty conscience?

who said anything about original packaging and receipts?
That 5D was $900. less and HALF of what they are being sold for used.
Are you finding "deals" like that that include packaging and receipts? lol

I was talking about me living in an area with little to no interest in high-end gear; that's how I got the 24-70 for $800.

Was originally listed for $900 and seller had no interest which allowed me to talk her down another $100....

$800 for a 24-70 isn't that egregious. It's about 25-30% lower than fair market price for a used one.
$900 for a 5DII is... It's about 55-60% lower than fair market price for a used one.

How about a 80-200mm L with hard case and everything for $75? Must have been surely stolen? I bought it from an old gentleman.

How about 16-35mm II for $700 - must be as well. One of my close friends sold it (with receipt and everything and it's under warranty too) who bought it new.

Sometimes people do sell things cheaper than the normal going prices. You have to be smart to make sure what you are buying is not stolen. I needed a 7D and I saw one for $1000 when the going prices were about $1200. I met him and asked him a few questions and realized something was not right. I said no and he came down to $850 while we were still talking. I left without camera.

As referenced in my previous post, I am referring to Craigslist.

Not to me - to somebody else.

Your problem is you don't seem to believe sometimes there are reasons and people do sell for cheap on CL.

Lol when you think sweet deals on CL must be stolen gear. There are actually situations where people just really need the money and its more than a pawn shop will offer or they have no choice but to sell the stuff. Case in point I just got a t2i 18-135, 55-250, 430exii, all with filters, boxes cords..., 2-8gb pro cards off camera cord, remote for flash, tripods, umbrellas camera bags, his whole set-up. Asking price was 1000 and if not negotiated he threw in his 50mm 1.4 with filter and hood. BTW t2i had 2100 actuations. Showed me the receipts and divorce papers and said either the camera goes or he goes since his wife saw some of his pics from his new hobby. And no they weren't her in the pics. So after some talking got it all for 950 So either he was telling the truth or he mugged the guy walking out of the store with the receipts. Funny thing when I was leaving I said to him since I met him at his house, I looked up your house on streetview and its a nice neighbourhood so I wasn't to scared of being ripped off with the cash, he smiled and said he was unsure of me and held his pants tight to his pocket and then could see his pistol. Lol it really was a pistol in his pants(Taurus 40cal)

I bought a camera set-up on CL for $900 and sold them separately for over $2k few days later  Sound like stolen stuff?

It was from a professional photographer. I met him at his studio and have been seeing lots of his works on the internet ever since. He just didn't want the hassle of selling them one by one.

Do you homework before each and every transaction. You'll know.
