Can someone recommend me a good wireless remote shutter?

I have this one

it was ok for a while, but then it started working from a distance of 5 feet only. replaced both batteries with no improvement.

^^^I've had this same remote for 3 or 4 years. It's still going strong. Have you tried it in multiple environments? Perhaps there's some signal interference that you're unaware of?

I believe the newest version of these is the Plato - check that out.

Anyway, I also use Yongnuo RF-603 triggers as shutter remotes. I think I paid $33 shipped for a set of 2.

I got the same one. Maybe it's just showing it's age.

I had mine almost the same age as v35skyline with no problem either. What about going to their site and check out the price of the newer models?

I know this is a stupid question but have you tried extending the antenna on the remote. Or placing the base unit on the opposite direction? I know it's RF but what do you have to lose?

I've purchased several of these for gifts. They are reliable and work from a distance of at least 300 ft. ....confirmed!

I looked at the link, but never saw the double //'s. If I had I would have known that was the problem. Thank you!

I'm jumping into a conclusion here but maybe you are right. Maybe they shipped you a defective one. Honestly I've been using mine since I bought it. I haven't replaced the battery and I haven't encountered any problem. If this one dies, I'd buy another Phottix in a heartbeat. It doesn't help your situation though... sucks :(

Sorry if the link didn't work for some. This remote is a bargain. It functions perfectly. Though the text hype claims 300 meters, it's closer to 300 ft. There are several of these out there under different names and varying prices but they are identical. The bottom line is most likely they all have the same mother!
Mine was actually $12.90 last week. Now a couple of bucks more from a different Amazon vendor....but it's all good!

That's a good price. My Hahnel release doesn't seem to work any more...
I assume this is compatible with the 7D?

RF603 works well on my Canon T3i - you get the version for your camera.
