Nothing even close compared to the nifty fifty and the 2.8 above, but bought myself a hood for my kit 18-135 yesterday. Although a bit expensive for a hood (around $38), the genuine Canon's accessory build quality is excellent.

Next up - grip or not?

Click on share on the pic you want. Then select bbcode. I usually use medium size. Then copy and paste. Pretty straightforward

Gosh what a surprise santa left me a 60D for christmas heres just a quick shot.
a quick question, it was on fully auto but it gave me a very small doF.
ISO 400,f 5.6 1/60 and the flash went off.

Remember... There are 3 factors in DOF -- Focal Length, f-number and distance... The closer your are, the thinner the DOF.

Unless this was a crop, it appears you were wide open at 55mm and quite close, thus creating the thin DOF.

I think the biggest factor was how close you were to the subjects...
