just bought some cheap ebay strobes. setup one with a softbox from the kit, can't remember the size of it but they are fairly small. first go at messing around with them.

single strobe shot.

Stan do a shot with the lights just behind the exhaust - that would be a sweet shot.

This is nice image, too.

Thanks C.T. I didn't realise there was such a drop in IQ when posting on FB, I'll start using 720px in png from now on! we only did I think maybe 3 or 4 to get this, Becky was really good and stayed in the air for what seems like ages lol.

Love it!

Can you tell a little more about what light/modifier was used? I've got a couple flashes and hoping the flash duration is short enough to sharply freeze for a shoot like this coming up.

How are you guys strobing in the lower f/ numbers. Even on 1/32 with my b800 I can't get my image to expose properly ( overexposed).

If I could figure it out without getting a neutral density filter on the lens or on the flash that would be preferable.

Try moving the flash away from your subject. Increasing that distance will lower the resultant light on the scene

There are a few factors that can be effecting your overexposure. Can you give us the scene?

You can use modifiers to reduce the light by a stop or two.. or bounce off a wall. You can put a softbox inside of a softbox, cause dawg I heard you like softboxes.

Could also just add a layer or two [more] of diffusion like [another] diffusion panel ?

I caught in a lighting tutorial today that you generally want your distance of lighting modifier from subject to not be more than about twice the diameter/corner-corner measurement of the softbox, or you start getting more of a point light effect.
