There's always the d800 if you want more megapixels.

I'll be waiting for the first reviews on the 1DX and see how that thing does. As I don't have much money now, anyways, I'll probably wait to see if there's a Leica M10 showing up or something.

Photography is about GEAR and not talent or practice. Practice won't make you a better photographer. Expensive equipment will. =D

I'll pass because my 5Dc is 99% of the IQ of both of those and spend the money on a new shutter and glass instead.

And you'll be able to upgrade your lenses without guilt!!!:D

(I still have difficulty telling many 5D and 5D2 A2 size prints apart....but I love the 5D2 for the tonal range and the ISO ability.)

I'm going to pass on both as well. I'll wait for Canon to come out with a higher MP 1D series body first.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Well, I'm one of those older geezers who isn't that impressed by all the wiz-bang stuff (that I mostly don't use) and refuse to participate in the pixel race (LOL). I was pleasantly surprised to see Canon drop the pixel count on the 1DX, IQ being my primary goal in picture taking. If the 5DIII does the same and drops to 18 or even 16 MP I would be interested. That not being too likely I'll probably stay with the 5Dc I just got to have a FF body for my prime lenses. (smile)

And yes, I know I'm in the minority. Doesn't bother me, so don't let it bother you!

Depending on how much the 5D MKIII is and what it brings to the table I will wait a couple more years and get the 1DX when I grad from university (2.5 years). Im very pleased with my 5D MKII now and want to build up my lens collection.

If the 5d3 increases mpix and keeps the image quality at least as good as today, I will most likely upgrade from the 5d2. The 1dx does nothing for me...especially at it's price point.

I would love a 5Dx -- a "baby 1dx". especially with a baby price.

The only thing I care to have updated on the 5D2 is the AF system. The 1Dx is essentially the "perfect" all-in-one body for me because I do mainly landscape photos and some sports/action. It'd be great to be able to combine the 5D2 and 1D3 into one body. I'd be able to save on weight in my pack. I wasn't too happy to hear about the drop to 18mp on the 1Dx though, I like having 21mp on the 5D2 for cropping, but it isn't as important as it is on the 1D3. Being only 10mp and having to shoot sports, wildlife, action and having a limited crop ability due to mp kinda sucks, but it's only a problem for 5% of my shooting and I don't get paid for it so I can live with it.

5D4 or 6D2..... Waiting to find out which I buy | 8-15L |24-70mm f/4L IS | 24L II | 40mm pancake | 100L IS | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mk2 | 400mm f/4 DO IS

I really don't think Canon will release the 5D3 until at least the end of 2012 as they wont want to impede on sales of the 1Dx. If they have decided to stop the MP race which they seem to have done with the 1Dx who knows what they are going to put in the 5D3.
Why, if they have decided on a set of features for the 1Dx would they go and put a range of improvements on a 5D3 which usually sells for less than the 1series anyway. I can see Canon deciding to make improved versions of the 1Dx and forget about a 5D3 altogether. It's just not good business sense to make a better camera and charge less for it. We already know the stats of the 1Dx and how much it's going to cost so if they do make a 5D3 I can't see it being more than about 15Mp, with a AF system and ISO abilities of the 7D to make it cost effective. Just my thoughts and maybe/hopefully I'll be totally wrong and they will come up with a super camera with 35Mp, 25fps and up to ISO512000 etc, but I cant see it being immediately affordable.

Too poor for the 1dx. I couldn't even afford 1dsmarkIII, let alone the 1dx. 5dmarkIII? I will pass because I am waiting for the 5dmark4. LOL. Maybe the 8d?

Lovely camera as the 1Dx undoubtable is, it is not the camera for me and never will be.

I've just bought a new 5D2 and that will tide me over until Canon produce a high MP, high DR 1Ds style body that will suit my requirements.
