Just to show how well the OS on this lens works:

7D, 1/6s, f/4.0 at 17.0mm, iso1600 handheld.

Not sure if this is allowed or not but I've made a post on the for sale forum selling this lens if anyone that doesn't own it is looking to purchase it.

I've been borrowing my school's 5DMKII to learn photography and I think I'm ready for gear of my own. This'll be my walkaround lens once I can get a good deal on a 7D. I've been using the 24-70 and I adore it, but I always want it to go a little wider. I can't wait to play with this lens though!

It'll be a nice compliment to my 70-200L f/4.0 and the nifty 50 I already have, I think. The shots in this thread are gorgeous!

^This lens is EF-S crop mount if I'm not mistaken, so it won't work on the 5D. It may mount but you risk damaging the mirror if the rear element hits it.

Wider than 24mm on FF, you're gonna need to get an EF lens, or a sigma lens that isn't designated as "DC".

Oh of course! -- Sorry I wasn't clear with what I meant--I meant to say that I'd be putting it on the 7D as my main config once I get gear of my own.

I have to graduate eventually, so I won't be able to play with the 5DMKII/24-70 much longer :P

You might be overlooking the "crop factor" of 1.6 on the 7D.

The 24mm on the 5D = 24mm.

The 17mm on the 7D = 27.2mm

So the Sigma 17-70mm on the 7D is actually narrower than the 24-70mm on the 5D. ;)

Here are some from a Third Eye Blind concert (all on a 7D at ISO 1600 and higher)
See more on my flickr page. I used this lens almost exclusively at the show. :-)

Just got this lens in the mail and tested it out today. I'm in love.

shot i got last night playing with lights.

this is a composite of two shots merged together. nothing spectacular but i'll share it anyway.

this was also placed in a clear glass, YN-468 at the bottom to make that glow effect on the orange for the first image then YN-468 on top of the orange for the second image. then i merged the two images in CS5 using masking of the areas affected.

I just bought this lense. I switched over from the Canon 17-85 F4-5.6

These pictures are on a T3i body. All pictures in 400 ISO and shot in pretty low light. Some with flash.
I just created this to see if the quality level is about what it should be.

What do you guys think?

These are straight from the camera. Noted shutter speeds and focal length and aperature.

also anyone find their autofocus to have a bit of squeaky noise ? mine does.
find it a bit annoying, but it does seem to focus just fine.

mine's not doing that thing. your SOOC shots are good, i think from my laptop. although you haven't discovered the sweet spot of your copy yet.

The only thing I did in post was a slight unsharp mask at 300/.9 radius /0

while doing research for this lens I was reading a review on Adorama at the same time scrolling through this forum and discovered your daughters portait on both sites! I am looking for a lens to bring with my on a cruise in April. I am seriously considering this lens.
