Amazon is every bit as good as B&H or Adorama. Since I have a Prime membership I prefer it. While at Amazon look at the Transcend cards. High quality, low price.

Excellent - Thanks very much for that, I order a lot of stuff from them, and have had 100% awesome support from their staff. I'd love to buy from them (free shipping is a bonus too! )

if you can live without the flip out screen, the T2i is just as good and saves you a chunk which you could put towards a lens.....

Most photographers refer B & H, not because of price alone, but because it's the best.

Why is it the best? Having never bought a camera of this grade, I'd love to hear opinions

If the swivel screen and the added creative filters really speak to you, then the T3i is your next photographic tool. If they don't, you might want to consider the T2i. It's a T3i without the swivel screen or additional on-board creative filters. Just a thought!

Here's why B&H rocks:

I bought a 5DII from them about 40 days ago for 2229.00 body only.

3 weeks later, the camera went down in price to 1999.00. B&H addressed the price difference and refunded me $230 3 days later.

After the refund, I realized that the body also came with a sandisk extreme pro CF card, camera bag and some software.

I called B&H up once again to see if I could take advantage of the bundled items. Charlie from customer support looked up the deal, took 30 seconds on his end to adjust my order and with-in 3 days, I had a UPS package with the items.

I'm not saying Amazon is worse than B&H, they're probably just as good. It's where you feel the most comfortable spending your money.

The T3i is a good choice

I do like the swivel screen a lot (esp for family portraits I cannot get out of) and for Video (which I do a lot of)

I think the T3i is the right camera, as I dont feel like saving for a 60d (and I wont be doing loads of sports or anything, so I dont more fps)

I have a 550d and will attest that the swivel screen for video makes the 600d a MUCH better choice. Heck, even for self portraits. My SX20 has a swivel screen that is smaller and lower resolution than the 550d, but I am more tempted to pick it up to shoot video than the 550d simply because of the swivel. You'll be happy you got the 600d!

He forgot to mention that the 60d also has wireless flash capabilities, a new feature to the ***d line-up and a good one I think. It's also slightly larger and better shaped, maybe not hugely, but enough that it's noticeable better.

They set the "Gold Standard" for integrity in dealing with customers. They are respected sponsors of dvinfo.net, a website frequented by many motion picture professionals. Most of the folks I know purchase from B&H, and most of my gear has come from them.

The one time I needed to send an item back there was no question, they shipped me the item I should have ordered in the first place and immediately credited my credit card when the item I returned was received.

Prices are competitive.

Both will serve you well. The "kit" lens is actually a pretty good performer, covers a range from "workhorse" wide angle to portrait perspective telephoto which makes it a good general purpose "walkaround" useful lens. I also have an EF 17-40mm f4L so I have some real "good glass" to compare it to.

Yes, the "L" lens is sharper, no doubt about that. But the "kit" lens is also decently sharp enough and I still use mine. Compact, lightweight, and easy enough to have with me when I need to travel "light" for the day.

The EF 50mm f1.8 is almost a "must" have at the low price on it. Where you have space to back off a bit, it is an excellent low light environment lens.
