Just curious as I am trying to decide which one to keep. My XSI does take excellant pictures (though the focus is problematic). The Pen is not an SLR by any standard, but the JPEGs are superb and he focus is more accurate (albeit slower). I can't keep both. Thoughts ?

It depends on what kinds of photography you pursue, and how much of a premium you place on portability.

The micro 4:3s cameras are the digital equivalent of rangefinders. They are portable and suitable to street, portrait and landscape photography using lenses from wide to short telephoto.

A dSLR gives up portability for functionality. If you want to shoot sports or use long telephoto lenses for most anything, the dSLR will be better.

Keep the one that gives you the best pictures. Isn't that the goal of this entire form to see who has the best pictures?

I'd ditch the XSI.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

What lenses etc. do you have for the XSI? If your investment in that camera is not great, I'd be inclined to get rid of it.

Apparently auditors found "no wrongdoings".

Besides, even if they go under there would typically be provisions for warranty guarantees, etc. It's not all that big of a deal these days given all of the laws and regulations in place.

It would be a big deal if someone put allot of money into Len's and they went under then your either stuck with those Len's or have to buy an panasonic.

That's the good thing about m4:3, at least the mount is open. So even if Oly does fail there would still be Panasonic support.

Since this thread I hav bought an Oly E-PL1 with 14-42mm kit lens. It's excellent IMHO. I especially like the lightness and small dimensions of the PEN cameras and the quality of JPEGs straight out of the camera. It will produce raw as well, but personally I don't use it.
