I'll vouch for Canon refurbs.
Bought a refurb 40D with 3 clicks on it 2 years ago and it looked exactly like new and worked like one.

I've purchased a 70-200 and 24-70 through the refurb program and both are perfect.

Same here. Got mine refurbished with the CLP and saved a bunch and was imperfect condition!

+1. It was as low as $949 new (thru Adorama) recently. With all the insane deals going on this month you're probably better off buying new vs. refurb.

Just ordered same lens yesterday for $1000 and today it went for $41 less with special thru Dec. 31 :-)
Called customer rep. and he gladly adjusted order to new price.

This is something I don't understand. Personally I would spend the extra $100 to know that I'm getting something brand new. For $100 cheaper with a used one, you don't know how the previous owner has treated the equipment and you probably don't even have warranty
