Just a thank you to all the positive members who have been offering advice. I've been lurking threads on tripod legs+head combos for a few weeks now and just got the 055XPROB legs and 498RC2 head. Thankfully I ignored all of the "hurrr... there are other threads talking about this" members who relentlessly belittle us newbies as I lurked numerous threads talking about equipment.

So to all who are relentlessly helpful - thank you! You've made a POTN member happy.

I've been toying with it. Strange angles with the macro lens, etc. I'm a happy boy :)

I also purchased the same combination as another Christmas present to me.... Seems like a very sturdy tripod.

Well done and enjoy! That setup really is the best bang for the buck!

I have the same legs with the predecessor to the 498 head, which is the 488.
Solid, rigid, and certainly built to last. You've chosen a leg/head combo
which represents a really excellent bang-for-the-buck value.
To move towards higher-quality legs or heads, the prices go up significantly
from what you have chosen.

Congratulations, and enjoy!

Got the remote shutter release some time ago. Placing the camera on a pile of books got old fast, though :P

Sked - Love the image of Manny!
