Maki,
Can I suggest instead of Roosevelt island to visit the base of the Brooklyn Bridge, there is a nice park there as well as to cross the triborough bridge to Astoria and go by the water for a nice southern view. Ofcourse, Williamsburgh by the water would also work.

Where did you move from?

Kind regards,
Dimitri

Dimitri,

taken from my window at the 11th floor. Upper East Side by Asphalt Green.

I am new here, I want to go to Roosevelt Island to shoot the Manhattan skyline. When it gets warmer...

@ David: I don't expect to be present year round, there is a hint in my avatar...:D I am thinking about making a sub-album with just this view though rather than general New York albums in my Photobucket.

Progression would be the word. From my early OOF shots with the 18-200 to various post-processed ones... would be interesting. I am learning the camera, Darktable, GIMP and New York simultaneously...

Dimitri, thank you for the suggestions. I am planning to walk the BB with warmer weather and shoot around the neighborhood there.

I moved from Athens, Greece, after a 10 year stay there. Before that it was Houston TX, Stavanger Norway, Morristown NJ, Houston, Berkeley CA, Miami FL. Next one? Who knows...

I've got the Bower. But my understanding is they are the same lens, just different names on them.

Yeah... with the exception of the new Opteka (removable hood) they are the same lens.

Samyang, Rokinon, Pro-Optic, Bell+Howell, Bower, Falcon, Polar, Vivitar, Opteka with quoted FL's from 6.5mm-8mm

(I probably missed some of the rebadged names...)

I got this pano a couple years ago from around the Brooklyn Bridge area you are talking about Dimitri. The reb brick building is actually the same building and not facing each other. It is a really nice area and I like what they did with it. I believe the spot I took the picture is still under construction.
