I just want to get some other opinions on this shot from today's outing:

I like the flowing water contrasting with the sharp ice, but I find the image to be too busy. Maybe try cropping to the lower right half of the image?


T3i, 18-55, EFS 10-22, 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS. Fuji XT-1, 18-55 F2-4.

looks too busy with the same color range which seems to make it look flat.

Second version is much better. First one just had too much going on.

Much better. Bringing that ice in closer gave it a better feel.
Did you notice the icy duck head, complete with eyes and beak in the lower left?

Its amazing how drastically an image can change based on a crop. I think they got better by each crop.

Nope. I think the first crop is the winner, with vibrance from the water splashing down the hill, and the bright green moss on the rock. That picture has an energetic winter feel to it. IMO
