I was using a pier head as a tripod... it was right on the water and extremely cold... some of the shots were shaky, simply cause I couldn't stop shivering.

I used a filter in Nik Silver Efex Pro 2. I tweaked it a bit but the filter did most of the work. Are you saying it's too detailed and takes away from the overall effect? I was careful not to oversharpen or add too much contrast. The source photo was an HDR to begin with. I really am enjoying Silver Efex though. Thanks.

It could be my monitor but the horizontal slats on the siding look to detailed, could just be small resolution or a crappy monitor. The effect isnt garish but it does feel like its straining my eyes to look at it.

I did a little work in DPP.
I cropped, added a tiny bit of saturation, sharpened substantially, and slightly tweaked the R/G/B levels.
This is the worst purple fringing I've ever seen from this lens!
