The D4 has 5D II mode, with a flick of a switch it adds banding and disables AF .

lol seems like all the D3s guys at Dpreview are keeping their cameras. They are saying the noise performance is the same but with 4mp more and better video.

That plus the improved AF about sums it up. Now we need to see some full-sized images from the 1DX!!!

Well the D3s had almost zero noise, which scientifically it's hard to beat. Nikon has upped it by 4mp, most likely atleast 2/3 stop ISO and offered a better AF. I think they did a damn perfect job with the D4.

but is it your wallets mind worth an upgrade from a d3s?

It would be about say a 2k upgrade if you sold a D3s today used. Depending on what you do the increase resolution plus better iso performance and focus system for a camera that will last you about 4 years (500 per year on the investment) could be worth it.

Honestly nope. I'd would actually take advantage to all the upgrades about to happen and snag a D3s at a good price. I've seen one for 3900 and another for 3600 today. The smart people would always skip a gen and once the new gen gets released pickup one of the older ones, that's unless you have are a Saudi prince or a Pro photographer in which case you can just write it off :)

1Dx vs D4 = Who cares really?

I shot a wedding today with a 1Ds3, in 10 years I still could. All I would like is a few stops higher ISO and a better screen. Both these cameras deliver that.

These two cameras are the end of DSLR's as we know them in their current form. The only way that these can be replaced is with something evolutionary.

So far, I'm going to have to say that Nikon D4 will deliver some serious Image Quality.

I don't know if Canon can match or beta Nikon when it really comes to down & dirty on Image Quality. I see Nikon continuing to dominate the Image Quality so long as Canon continues to focus more on Video.

C'mon Canon put more effort into Image Quality !

I don't hold any loyalty towards any brand. My loyalty is towards my wallet.

Canon's focus on video doesn't affect how the camera performs stills wise in any way. In fact the 1DX is still a 'first generation' video DSLR but with some smaller features tacked on.
Fact of the matter is, DSLRs despite their shortcomings are video tool first to a lot of people, Canon would be crazy to ignore that.
