Good analogy, Mark... but I think it's more like a Ferarri and a Pinto with multi-color paint and stupid stickers all over it. LOL

I've used Flickr since almost it's inception, but man has that place lost it's appeal. It's like a flea market now, filled with junk and horrible flashing, blinking, stupid banners everywhere.

I'm really glad 500px has come along and that it's gaining in popularity - as I'd stopped using Flickr because all of the stupid badges and spam-like comments.

Flikr had the same intentions as 500px when it started, to network photographers and showcase the best images based on a rating and popularity system, however due to their high upload limits and lack of lossy compression they just ended up becoming the favoured alternative to photobucket. The only difference is that 500px learned from flikr and built their site around the mentality of limiting your uploads.

I as well! I find it a great source for inspiration. Flickr is 99%+ poeples snapshots and it is hard to find the talent on the site. 500px.com's voting system is pretty good at preventing people from spam voting garbage to the front. So far, I am liking it.

anyone else getting the 5 second limit dialogue box every time they try to follow someone? I'm waiting like 3 minutes and still getting it when I click the button.

I get that occasionally... Sometimes, I find out later that the follow request worked, other times I have to go back and do it again.

I'm getting it constantly, it'll start working for a couple follows then glitch up for another 20 minutes or so, kind of annoying.
