First off, I want to thank everyone here for all the sharing and comments. I have learned alot here, and it is a daily visit for me. I am not one to generally post, but know that I do appreciate it.
Anyway, to my story. In February 2010 I bought a Canon 7D from Best Buy along with their Black Tie Protection plan. I got it for a great deal at the time, and I always wonder if I should get those protection plans. Well twords the end of summer last year, after the one year warranty was up, I started having issues. When shooting in AV or TV my shutter speed would lock at 8000, and / or the light meter would underexpose by a good 2 stops.
While I could compensate with exposure compensation or shoot in Manual which is what I did as a work around, for a newer camera, I wanted it to work right. So I brought it into the geek squad, they sent it out, and I get in back in a week with the description of shutter repair and adjustments. Came back a week later, seemed to be fine. A week or so later, acted up again, so sent it back with printed proof of the issue, they sent it out again, came back a week later with more "adjustments" and again seemed fine, but I went through a shooting drought. During Christmas, it happened again, I contacted the geeks, and they told me to bring in the body for a no lemon exchange.
I go in, drop it off, I was told as it was the third time, they had to send it back, have it looked at and get the replacement "approved" this past Wed. I get a call I got the approval and to come into the store. Walked in expecting a refurbished body or something, nope, went to the camera dept, got a brand new in box 7D kit, no cost, but my extended warranty was then "used up" Now I only brought in the body for repairs, so all said and done, I get a new camera, an extra kit lens, and another spare battery and charger.
I don't think I am going to get another extended warranty on this one right now tho, as I don't have the fundage for it, but I can say I am more than pleased with the service I got
