I have a Mk1 version due to be delivered in the morning and I am very excited. Been looking for one for ages as the Mk2 in the UK is very scarce and still stupid expensive due to lack of supply.

LPE6 battery + 4x8GB Sandisk extremes due today. God bless B&H Photo - I paid less for the lot (including delivery) there than I would have paid just for the battery down here!

By any chance did you own or use the previous 300 f2.8 ?
If so, I'd like your comments about the IS system, especially mode 3.
The new lens offers 4 stops of IS, where the old was 2.

Thanks for posting the Lens Align photo, it gives me a good idea of how it works.

Yes I did own the previous version before I went with the 400 2.8, I will let you know how it compares once I do some shooting with it. I guess its hard to compare weight, but coming from the 400 2.8 its a lot lighter.

I wonder if he returned the lens. Since last Nov he's posted very little, and nothing about the new 300. That's understandable, considering how expensive it is.

BTW, it gets a rave review here...

Not a chance, this lens is amazing.

Been very busy shooting basketball right now but this lens has its place there for sure.
