Very smart!

To be honest the GX1 is a rather nice body, I guess this just adds a built in EVF (?) and more retro looks, so it seems a bit odd to sit something between the GX and G series. (?)

GX and G series are Panasonic, though. Olympus wants in on the game.

So I'm a little confused. Is this camera going to have its own lens mount different from the PEN series cameras?

No indication that it will, thank goodness.

I wonder if it will have the biggest viewfinder on the market, just like the old OM 1.

I know this is probably unlikely, but the OM series cameras were SLRs and Olympus is looking to grab the enthusiasts' attention... and I think Fuji is doing it right by including all the right bits like an optical viewfinder.

Is a micro four thirds DSLR in a retro casing in the realm of possibility?

I believe the strongly rumored (ok, it's going to happen, just not announced yet) Olympus OM-D is supposed to take a lot of styling cues from the old OM SLRs.

Are you talking about an actual DSLR with a mirror so that it can have an OVF? In that case no, because m4/3 by definition is mirrorless. Putting a mirror would make the register distance too big, which means they'd basically be creating a whole new lens mount spec.

Unless it was a new regular 4/3 cam. (Which seems unlikely, but possible)

Not much to contribute on the OM coming out but. A few observations...
1. The Panny 20mm f1.7 on the GF1 I picked up is stellar. Looking forward to it on something like these new cams.
2. It really looks like a retro styled full framer is less than 5 years away.
3. What great sudden competition has arisen in this segment, Even though the Pen Series ignited it, I think the Fuji X100 is the real force behind all these other entries.

4/3, say it isn't so. :(

Let the Pen cameras remain 4/3 and let the OM digital be an APSC

As long as you foot the bill to design a new lens mount and lenses to cover an APS-C sensor I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
