Wow did not think i would see this in this list, i love mine and at 200mm i don't need IS but that being said i don't shoot in low light with it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic lens, but it wasn't an upgrade from the 70-300 like I was hoping for and that's because I didn't realize how much I appreciate IS. Since then I have replaced it with the 4L IS and am extremely happy with that lens.

I think the only lens I regret was a sigma 24-70mm when I had my Rebel XT. Just wasn't wide enough for a walk around. I got rid of it pretty quick.

- Nikon 35mm F/1.8
- Sigma 17-70mm F/2.8-4 Cont.

Oddly enough the one lens I'm starting to regret buying I like very much and I have no complaints about its performance. It's the 24/1.4L II and I got a referb one from Canon. Trouble is I got it to give me the perspective I wanted on a crop sensor (40D). Does exactly what I wanted it to do on the 40D...but I've been converted to FF and it's just a bit wider than I need/want on the 5Dc. I want a 35/1.4L for the FF body and have thought about trading the 24L on a 35L. Just hate to get rid of the 24L now that I have it and it's paid for.

Crap, if I'd gone FF a little sooner I would have gotten the 35L instead and wouldn't be in this quandary. Hence my regret at buying the 24L.

Totally agreed. I have seen so many forum members recommending the 24L as a fast normal prime to crop user. Little do they realize the lens is very wide and distorted for portrait when going ff. My advice is sell the crop body and go ff with the money than buying 24L and regret later.

50 1.8

It has its place, but I would rather have a Sigma 30 1.4 field of view on a 1.6x crop. Also, the AF is loud and annoying.

My 50 1.2 was a disappointment because it is not as sharp as my 50 1.4 at any equivalent f stop. I either got one stupid sharp 50 1.4 or one not so good 50 1.2. I think my 1.4 is just stupid sharp. It is only a hair less sharp when compare to my 35l.

My Lensbaby, I was sure I'd like it. Used it once, put it in a drawer. Just not my thing.

I would say the Sigma 28-70 2.8 only because I don't feel 28mm is wide enough on a crop body - but I got the lens for free (courtesy of a friend who migrated from crop to FF), so I can't have any regret about a free lens.

The 50 1.4. I had two copies, one developed an AF issue after I barely used it, the second front-focused like crazy.

Tamron 60 mm f2 macro...supposedly an amazing lens and in its defense, everyone loves it...but mine arrived dead (wouldn't focus in either AF or MF modes), and mailing it back from Korea cost me $30...so I'm out 30 bucks and have no lens haha.

Every 50mm I've owned :(

Canon 50 1.8 II - shoddy build quality and jittery AF, great value though.
Canon 50 1.4 - in all honesty, I only bought it because it was a killer deal, but it does have kind of a gnarled focus ring
Canon 50 1.2L - Great lens, but I just couldn't justify keeping it after buying a 35L
Sigma 50 1.4 - "The poor man's 50L" - very good quality, but I just never use it.

I really want to like shooting at 50mm, but try as I may, I just don't think it's the focal length for me. The Sigma's for sale if anyone's interested - buy it here :)
