40d to 7d was about like going from my first canon dslr (rebel) to the 20D. I had the 40d before going 50d and I found it worth the switch, from 40d to 7d, you will simply be amazed what time/technology has done in the past 4 years!

I shoot with both a 40D and a 7D. I would like to have two 7D cameras but, I can't afford that...

The 40D is a fine camera but it is outdone by the 7D in areas such as focus and controls...

What kind of light?

Frankly, for that particular application, I think that your 40D and 18-250 lens will work just fine.

Unless, of course, those napkins move really fast.

This weekend I'll be heading out to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney with my girlfriend to properly christen my new box. I'll post some photos!
