Understand there are compromises going to a one lens solution, in some cases you may find you lose some IQ. I've never shot this particular Tamron lens so I'm not familiar with its soft spots.

Get the Tamron. Tamrons are nice, i wouldve gotten the 17-50mm but got the nicer 17-55mm [albeit more expensive] "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil"

Jan 16, 2012 22:05 | #8 for a couple of obvious reasons....i travel a lot and dont want to haul a ton of equipment amd like i said previously, i lose photo ops. i was out the other day and had my wide angle on and saw a dozen turkeys about 200 yards away and had to switch lens. by this time the turkeys heard the car and were getting on their way.... It's exactly as the OP said, I often miss the opportunity because switching lenses takes too long (even if it is only 15-20seconds).

There's been a number of times where I'd be happy to trade the IQ for flexibility. Canon T3i w/ Canon 17-55 f/2.8 - Canon 18-55 - Canon 55-250 - Canon 50mm f/1.8
