Yes, just a shame that the face has some shadow. I do like the action - has a lot of energy.

White balance is off. The ice looks green.

I love these shots. My daughter just started playing field hockey this past fall, so I am learning the game and how to shoot it. I have been through your flickr site and would be thrilled to have shots like those.

How close to the field are you? Depending on the High School, I can get on the field or I need to shoot from the stands, but I really like the angles that you are capturing.

Being on the edge of the field is far better, provided you are allowed to do so. If it is a big game with independent umpires, you would most certainly have to get permission - at least in England - before you could be stood right on the sidelines. Behind the goals, between short and long corner positions is also a great spot, but watch out for the ball - it can do damage to you and the camera if there is an off target shot or more likely, a deflection.

However, jvk is the real expert and I am sure that he will have some more detailed quality advice for you. He does take remarkably good shots.

I'm allowed onto the field. I'm standing in a corner. Which one depends on the direction of play (the better team tends to be on the opponents side of the field a lot more so im there) I'm sitting on the ground shooting knee height.
