I used to use Nero many many many years ago. Now I am in the market for an easy to use program for slide shows. I want a program that can switch from photos to video and back to photos. I also want one that you can add background music. I want a program that is very user friendly.

With that being said, what programs are out there that you recommend?

I use ProShow Gold. It's a little pricey and a bit of a learning curve but it's pretty powerful. I am a mobile DJ and use this software when I prepare slide shows for my clients.

Same here - ProShow Gold....and as iresq said, it is not cheap and has a learning curve. Also has a few bugs. I tried several different slide show programs and this one seemed to work the best.

How else does one show their digital images??

A guy I work with recommended ProShow Gold too. He said it was kind of pricey but I am showing $70from the website...does that sound about right?

I recently upgraded from ProShow Gold to Producer after many years with Gold. They gave me an offer that was hard to turn down. Gold is a good starting point. You can put together a basic show quickly, the learning curve comes from the advanced features. I see they just released Version 5.

Sort of an industry standard among newspaper folk:

I've used it a lot and don't hate it. It's very easy and fast to use, very simple and easy to learn. Great price for its functionality.

Ok...so what can you do with ProShow Producer that you cannot with ProShow Gold to justify paying nearly 4 times as much?
