Too expensive and not compact enough, price and size are just too close to a Rebel. Would have preferred something like this:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/png'

I would get rid of the articulating screen too. Wouldn't mind a prime lens either if it makes it more compact.

No the index-finger control dial? so you expect the full touchscreen G1-X CAMERA, dont you?

Sorry everyone. Chrome is my default browser and I forgot not all browsers have the language translation option.

Canon got tired of hearing about the Fuji and decided to get their users back LOL!
I had my doubts about this thing at first but now (aside from the price) I gotta say, its looking like a winner. Alas, I'm sure they went with that price because they can, it will still sell well, and it undercuts the Fuji... ;)

Well, at least they (Canon) are trying.

I'm a little ticked at Apple for not trying to be innovative anymore. Just more crap to sell that doesn't work (itextbook crap).

Sorry for the rant.

Back to canon

Thank you. bw!

having owned a g9 and g11, I'm very excited for the g1x. If its not the camera you want, simply don't buy it. If it is, get it and enjoy it.

I honestly see g1x being used for paid work as a secondary camera or even a light/replaceable rig.

All this ranting about it not being worth it is a waste of time. Just move on and buy the product you want. I don't like nikon cameras after having owned many. I don't spend hours trying to convince others not to buy them.

I just use what I like and what's available to me. No crying about it. Just go out and make money or make memories. Which ever reason you purchase cameras for.

This post makes me wish the forum had some kind of reputation system or "like" option.

Well put. What I've been saying from darn near the beginning on this is even if the G1X is not for you, for whatever reason, it is still a nice sign that Canon is doing something innovative and interesting. I think that is good for most all of us.
