Not buying it. Not saying that it's not a new 7D but the logic in that blog is flawed.

The 7D is newer than the 5DII and the user interface has several improvements. Canon would be stupid to completely ignore these improvements on any future 5D or 7D series cameras. If nothing else, I would expect the 7D and 5D to become more similar in their interfaces and button layouts simply to make them part of the same "family."

I doubt it's the 7D, it's got to be the 5D3 or mythical 3D.

Whatever it is, I want one.

Agreed. In my opinion it is much more likely that it is a revision of the 5DmkII. If you look, one of the largest difference in terms of physical appearance seem to be your button layout to the left of your LCD screen. That and the fact that there is no pop-up flash seems to be a dead giveaway being that 7D is a entry level pro-sumer camera that Canon wants to make use of their "on-board" flash triggering system benefiting enthusiast shying away from spending the big dollars on PocketWizards and other such industry standards. No pop-up, no trigger. Unless they plan on going to a internally built RF system, meaning they would need to re-vamp a mkIII line of flashes :-O......

If Canon updates the 7D before the 5D I will personally smash all of my lenses and spit in Chuck Westfall's eye.

Ok, maybe not.... but it would be frowned upon.

Be great if it was covering a spot for dual memory cards.

About time they add a joystick to the grip, if this is even legit - that's the main reason I considered the D700 :)

Too bad 3rd party people don't put a joystick on their grips for current canon's, assuming there's com-pins to support it.

It looks like it comes up a little higher on the side. It also looks like it might be covered in textured rubber instead of just being hard plastic.

The rotated shot at http://blog.planet5d.com …-ii-prototype-discovered/ (external link) has the easiest shot to view it.
