Is this Moral? Or am I being unfair?

I don't think the OP means to say they want to charge the repair back to the seller and keep the lens. I think they are meaning to say that they would fix it, sell the lens, send the money back to the seller (less the cost of fixing the lens). I believe that is the OP's question

Although he stated clearly what he's saying some of us can't understand.

He's asking to having fixed the lens(spend X), then sell his entire stuff (he got for $531 or whatever it was) (Receive Y) then pay him (Y-X).

That last sentence tells me the intent is to charge the original seller, and, if the lens works on the 50D, keep it, if not, sell it. Maybe SimplyShane wasn't being clear, but that is how I construe that last part.

to the OP, you said you felt guilty with all the Xsi-sigma fiasco because you got your money back and got free camera w/ lens. But now you want to send the seller repair bill 8 months later (or how many months nobody knows)??? seriously? unbelievable....

who would have thought this coming from a person (OP) with that many posts on this beloved forum?

Another story to reinforce my practice of always buying new. It seems that a meaningful percentage of people involved in transactions for used equipment are out to rip each other off. Too much uncertainty and stress for my druthers.

I think most of you are misreading his message, although its a little confusing

he wants to send the lens to sigma to be repaired, deduct the say $100 repair cost off what he paid the guy initially, so lets say he paid originally for the camera / lens $500 he would then send the original seller back $400 and then sell off the camera / lens if he chose to

I think thats fair and that is what I would do
