Should i wat for the 7DMKII/5DMKIII?

Before you start bashing... I'm just curious if i should wait for the 7DMKII or 5DMKIII? I have not owned a DSLR. First DSLR i'm consider is the 7D.

Maybe. 2/7 is just a few weeks away. You have waited this long, what a few more weeks. Then when it doesn't get announced, I'm sure we will hear that it's getting announced in March. That too is just a few weeks, wait until March.

First, what do you shoot?

You need to determine what YOUR needs are.

If you need the reach of a crop body or shoot sports, the 7D is better suited to your needs. With that said, I wouldn't wait on a 7D2.

If you shoot portraits, landscapes, architecture the 5D2 is a better choice. If it were me, I would wait until at least February to see if the 5D3 will be announced. Realistically I would wait until July or so, but it's up to you.

A camera in hand is obviously worth far more than one never bought.

Here's my opinion..

If there had been an announcement giving a hint to a release, then yes, waiting might be worthwhile if you are willing to shell out the cash for a new release and the new features are what you want. Without there being a ANY official notification about even the possibility of a new version....why bother.

It's just like with computers, waiting for the next version is a never ending loop, there will always be a
new version to wait for. You just have to decide if you want the current features now? Or wait for what might be coming.

I just moved from a 500d to a 5Dm2 last month and could NOT be happier.

deft wait for the release date agree with everyone else it is deft worth the wait i just bought a 7d last year and gonna be making another purchase on the next new that comes out

If you want to wait for certain Cameras, then yes! I am! Plus it is not all about what you want to shoot or how you shoot either, it's about if you can afford it and how bad do you want it! I say, write your reason down on paper, then compare. See what will justify or convince you to be pushed over the edge! Don't set your expectations too high, for the camera's. Be realistic, they are " JUST CAMERA'S". Remember this quote, from a Famous Photographer, The best camera you can get or have, is the one you have with you. Not exactly 100% accurate, but along the same lines.

I see this question as a " I want the best Gear possible " type of question. How good are your pictures, will be up to you. Just as long as you are happy with the results, then who cares what anyone here thinks!

Probably.

You bet your bottom dollar they will! The people are trying to sell off there 5D MARK II's, so they can get a decent resell value now. I sold mine $100.00 less than the price I purchased mine NEW. But I sold mine awhile ago. Just like Apple Products, just wait for the next coming generation of camera's. Most Upgrades will mostly be 2 upgrades ahead, to justify that a camera has been upgraded. Look at the Rebel Series camera's or Canon's Compacts. They are practically pushing those out like Android Phones! Outrageously and Comparatively speaking, in a sense to give you an idea.

My suggestion, if you are going to buy older used camera's, do your research and look around the forums for Gripes and Complaints. Especially people with real world experience using the camera's now. But take what you read, for a grain of salt. Some info you read on the net, is not credible. But like I suggested before, just write out the reasons on paper, gather info, Experiment with the camera with some hands on use at the store and then make an educated guess.

No, even it they announce something on 2/7 you won't be able to buy it for months. Canon announced the 1Dx on 10/18 - and I don't think they're on store shelves yet. You can wait, but if you want to start taking photos soon I wouldn't be waiting.

well i;m selling my bought new from b&h 1100 shoots for at least 1850 total, so i can purchase a canon 1d mkiv for the speed and reach for birds,sons soccer,sports, and things. i want the money now to save enough or even try the nikon D700, but a new one! xD
