Seems kind of redundant to me. What would be the reason of hanging on to the 1Ds3? As a backup?

-Backup
-different lens on each camera
-more mp for studio lighting shoots
-different setups at same time

the list goes on and on.

Shame on Canon for making us wait so long . Maybe they can put some glow in the dark buttons on the back.

I am just thinking about what Nikon will do in the next d4s, I guess they will have to put 71 AF points in that.

Funny that there is still no official sample images or video, makes me wonder how far away it is from being on the shelves.

At this point if you don't have an early preorder in I don't think these will be available on shelves until mid summer.

You can cancel your 1DX order and transfer it to a 5D3/5DX order now, J. It's got 61-pt AF, 22mp & 7.5fps!

Oh Yeah. Canon is going to do that for sure. An almost identicle camera to the 1Dx in terms of sensor size, AF focal points and cleaner iso.....And its only going to be 3100.00........Yup that's gonna happen for sure PFFFFFFT it wont even have a 7D type system in it.

But you gotta admit... IF Canon did do that with the 5D3/5DX... wouldn't you be rather excited and likely to pick up one, or two, or three instead of a 1D X?

If they keep everything else the same and just insert the 7D AF system I won't buy a 1D X.

I'll take four! I doubt Canon would do this. They have to protect the one and only 1D they have left!

Hehehe... well, since I'm planning to build-up a new office from scratch this year, I won't be getting either camera this year. I can avoid the rush and wait for the reviews.

Exactly.

My guess is the 5D3, IF, that's what this body that got caught of that safari is, will be geared towards the video guys and not the still photography. Look at the LCD. Theres your big hint.

Canon will do nothing with a 5D3 in terms of AF systems like a 7D on the full frame sensor. Not gonna happen because everyone, including myself, will jump on one. Canon knows this.

Something is gonna happen. But it will not be anything that will be even the slightest threat to 1Dx sales. Wishful thinking on all the speculators parts.

Something to fill the 1DMKIV market is my guess. I keep seeing stuff on the net about 3D's and 4D's , high high MP count sensors. Would make sense considering that guy was sporting a 200-400 and out of a safari testing that new camera. Would also make sense for the video market as well. Lots of MP's on target with 200-400 lens make for great heavily cropped photos for the announcement........Ho​w about that thought. Make way more sense than a 5D3 update with a 7D AF system for 3100.00-----never going to happen
