You know what would be really cool, if you could get this frame from the GoPro on his board and post the 2 shots. GoPros are soo cool

Really love the shots my 40D gives me. Been thinking about upgrading my body, but when ever I shot with it I see no need! Here is a shot I took on a recent hike with the Canon 28-70 f/2.8. We stumbled upon a wall of rock completely covered by ice sandwiching leaves in between.

Greetings to all you Canon users here.

I own my 40D for 3 years now, bought it from my friend for 600 eur, it's a fantastic piece of photo equipment.

I use Sigma 18 - 200 DC II HSM FLD, used to own Sigma 18 - 125 DC HSM, extremelly satisfied with the results of these Sigma teleohoto lenses.

Still learning techniques, this is my first DSLR thus far, I have strong desire to buy a FF DSLR also someday.......

My 40D photos follow shortly....

Canon eos 350D gripped, Canon eos 40D, Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM, Canon EF 35mm 2.0, Canon EF 85mm 1.8 USM, Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM & Sony RX100......Ales Baricic @ FB

...Any the mighty 40d survives another bout with the rain. :D

I love this camera. It has never let me down. Soon, I will be departing on a 6,500km bicycle trip across Canada with it. I'll have a 20d which probably has 1,000 shots on it at home, waiting to be mailed to me in the case that the 40d doesn't survive the trip... but I'm not counting on that happening. :)

I love my 40d. Had one problem with it and that was a shutter button that was not working. Poured a little 99% iso alcohol in it, pressed the button in and turned it around. No issue since. I don't recall when I got it, but it was used (got it off the forums here). I will not buy a new body till this one is about to fail. No need to replace what isn't broken.

I feel much the same. My 40D has under 15k actuations and looks cosmetically as-new, so I hope it should still have a good life ahead of it.

Fact is, to me there is no obvious upgrade from the 40D. I don't think the 50D would be much of an upgade and the 7D seems like an unnecessarily complex can of worms that I would not be in a hurry to open. Changing to a Rebel (even a "Super Rebel"!) would be out of the question and the 1D or 1Ds series seem much too big and expensive for my taste.

That leaves only 5D classic or 5D Mk II. Since I don't take sports/action shots but I'm quite keen on portraits and landscape, FF might be the logical way forward for me one day -- but I don't aim to be doing that while my 40D is still going strong.

Even though I'm now mostly shooting on the FF world I will never part ways of this body.

I know how you feel. I upgraded to a 7D, but I'm not parting ways with my 40!
