70-200 F/4L IS lens is just amazing in most situations. Even after having the lens, I go through this thread everyday to see what it is really capable of. The quality of pictures and the detail it captures is just a treat to watch.

Hi, anybody in this thread ever purchase the 70-200 f4 non IS first and found the price difference really worth it?

^^Oh yes it is worth it ! After I sold the non-IS to buy the IS, my keeper rate skyrocketed ! And the IS version is sharper. Plus the weight difference is negligible.

+2

I researched both F/4 versions of this lens. F/2.8 was out of question due to budget and heavy weight. I initially got this lens without IS, but soon realized IS is a must for me, so went ahead and ordered IS version. Though my IS lens is only 2 months old, I love it. It takes amazing pictures.

Heck, it is so good that although I just bought the f/2.8 Mk II, I still can't resolve to sell the f/4 IS ! So sharp and lightweight ! It's the ideal 70-200 for travel and holidays ! :)
