Guys, all the pictures are very nice. Too bad, can't share here. Mine is the predecessor of the Contax sibling. Love Planar!

and one of my favorites from several months ago. i think this is the type of photo you want to see cause it's at 1.4 and at MFD where the lens is at its worst but I like how it looks. very dreamy. a fair amount of CA (you can see it on the eye lashes) but nothing worse than the 85L or 1.8. the B&W photo above is also at 1.4 and MFD

So, I happened to buy this lens today by accident..

Mandatory first duck shot for good luck:

Assorted test shots..

First impressions:
-Significant focus shift
-Capable of some truly ugly and some really nice bokeh wide open. Suffers severely from LoCA, but it is significantly reduced by f/2 and almost gone by f/2.8
-Relatively soft wide open, sharp at f/2, very sharp at f/2.8.
-As expected very nice colors and contrast

Very nice shots Luka, really an outstandin lens.
Tell me, what software are you using to create this borders?
Plais.

if there's no thread for your version, try starting one... if no one else is posting on it, i don't see why not post it here....just mention in the post your version of the Zeiss 85... it'd be nice to see any contrasts...if any... but in the end, its a Zeiss 85 1.4 :).. but thats my opinion

I think, as far as character goes, this lens does special things at this distance. The way the blur falls off is unique to this lens in that it has a beautifully painted look.
