Waterproofing Cameras?

If you watch this link, it's about a product that repels water off of anything. They use an iphone underwater with no case, and they tell you a little about how it works. The device is put in a vacuum chamber, where the product is pumped in and coats the inside electronics:

My question, is could we do that to a camera? A film camera no doubt, but this would likely cause an enormous drop in IQ from a digital sensor. Do you think we could block sensors from receiving the coating before we process a camera? This would be an excellent service to send a camera in to if so, God knows how nervous I get shooting around water!

no, it would not work on a camera. this product was discussed a few weeks back here...

I mean you have moving parts, aka the lens, so interchanging lenses would break the seal at that contact point and also coating the glass itself is probably horrible for image quality, lots of distortion going on that wasnt there before.

Just me, but I'd be a lot more nervous about using this on my camera than I ever would shooting around water...
