Nice! Well with my check from the IRS en route, I am officially in the market. I'll be cruising the 'for sale' board for sure

John - have you got got it set on AIServo?

If so keep the AF-ON button depressed.

Have a read of this for some settings

I have indeed :)

Thats a great doc by the way.

Rather than bog here down I may just asking the main forums, hopefully I'll get a real crack at this wee chappie tomorrow.

I have to say I absolutely love the feel and weight (although with the 50-500 OS its pretty heavy even for me, but that I can live with), this is just so much camera for the money - just £1100, or as it was swapped a 60D, 17-50 OS and just under £100, personally I think is a bargain.

I'm going to go look at a 1Diii this weekend. What should I look for? I noticed that the serial # is in the range of affected cameras for the AF issue, but supposedly this was already dealt with. Is there a way to verify this? The running test, I'd imagine. Just wondering if there is anything else I should look for.

When my came back from Canon after the final AF fix it had two white dots in the bottom of the battery compartment.

thanks Jim. One more thing. Were the dots on the inside of the compartment? Or the outside?

I have a tax return to spend, and it's burning a hole in my pocket! Should I just jump in right now? I was hoping to get a 1Diii for closer to the ~1500 price point after the 5diii is announced, and the 1D-X ships. First world problems

neither the 5diii or 1dx will effect 1d3 prices.
