Would like to have had a better BG but in west texas you take it where you find it . XSi , 70-200mm f/4L . Cropped at 100% , sky had noise reduction and changed to jpeg . No other editing . Cs'&Cs' welcome .

Very nice Ron, you're fortunate to get so close to this tiny falcon. The detail is very nice and I vote for the first image with the catch light. Nice shootin'.

Great Catch! I saw my first today got a pic but it was about 700miles away so not close up beauties like you have here.

Thansk alot Steve ! This is my second time capturing a Kestrel but much closer . I have been lucky enough to see several this past few years out here in W. Texas . Only unlucky i did not have my camera with a good zoom lens at the time :( . I used my 70-200mm f/4L for this shot and wasn't sure it was going to reach good enough but that little lens has proved things to me that i didn't believe in the beginning :D !

Thansk Grizz ! I know they seem far away but actually they are a small bird . Look big but are smaller than most falcons . Actually smaller than a pigeon but a wider wing spread ! Never give up tho , some day you'll pass one in a tree or highline wire like i did and there will be your chance ... "IF" you have your camera .

Not a lot to critique here Ron except why aren't there more?
The 1st capture is the more pleasing of the two with the twinkle in the eye, but they are both high quality. I'd love to have any shots that good.
