Finally took a rig shot i am impressed with!

Hey guys. Been meaning to build a rig for a while and finally got around to it this week. This is so first and so far only image I ever took on it, just a test in my driveway. I have a few shoots with some Ferraris and Lamborghini's lined up for this week and will definitely bring it along. Hopefully I will get some better stuff soon.


Basic 10 ft(soon to be 15ft) aluminum rig with typical manfrotto goodies & 5D mkii 17-40 f/4L. Might try my 7D out with my 10mm fisheye for a different POV.

Ive been lurking here for a while, starting at Page #1 right through to this..

Decided Im going to build a Rig, yesterday I got my 15' section of Alloy tube, 48mm OD really light & stiff too, cut into three pieces.
Today saw a mate whos a Machinist , weve now figured out how to make light weight sleeves to allow assembly & disassembly easily.

Got some suckers , but being out of the boondocks , in the Land Down Under,.. I had to settle for Glass Suckers, theyre ugly but way strong, now figuring out multi adjustable mounts for them .

Ordered Magic Arm n super clamps for the other end,

Got a few nice cars teed up for shoots

Out here in the bush we have fab a lot of stuff so it'll turn out OK, just not shiney/pretty like a few rigs here..

Well done mate! Nice post work! what did you do, because i noticed the house/shed just disappeared haha.

Only thing i would do is clone the tree branches out from the right side and the two trees that are at the rear hatch peaking above.
Good work, look forward to seeing the lambo and fezza shots.

You need to go through the pages from the start. It's all in there, in detail and multiple setups.

Hey,

I've been having a good read through this thread and going to start making my rig soon.

I've found a company selling aluminium flag poles over here in the UK which are already cut into 4ft sections and slot together which is great. However they are 50mm (2") diameter but only 1mm gauge, i've seen on here most people are using 3mm gauge. Does anyone know if 1mm will bend with the weight before I fork out for them?
