A T2i for $400??

Happy Hunting!

No worries! . Well after fully reading the description I found there was a "slight" problem with the focus, no matter how slight that's a nono for me.

So I did not recommend a camera that is hype or expensive. It is within the budget that was suggested by the 60d or 60d kit. advantages of the 5d are Full Frame (wide view and shallow DOF with similar lens to APS C) proven reliability smooth and easy to work with images For shooting what she suggested it is the perfect camera. I own a 60d and like it alot. I dont even want a 5d so I dont buy into the "gotta have a full frame" hype. but for her intended uses its a perfect camera. I have found that the 60d images NEED post processing to make them look good (to me and many others that own the camera) Its just a suggestion though, obviously buy what you want. I just wanted to give another option that you may not have thought of yet.

I read they can offer refurbished cameras, is it in exchange or just at a lower price? And is there any risks of purchasing a refurbished camera (i.e: problems occurring after 6mo warranty), are they just used, or previously broken and then repaired? Also a quick poll, should I get stock lense or just purchase body and purchase a different lense? You need to check out the tread.. -JP-

Get the body only and since you are wanting to do portraits go for the canon 50 1.4. I tried the sigma 30 1.4 and didn't care for it however it works for a lot of others. 5D ll | 5D | SL1 | Lumix LX7 | 24-105L| 70-200L| 135L| 85 1.8| 50 1.4| 28 1.8| 50 1.8 ll| 40 2.8 STM| 35 2.0|75-300 lll|18-55 STM| 28-75 2.8

Wow, this isn't true at all. Todays kit lens are really good to start out with. -JP-

I think most people would be inclined to get the body only and then fill in with better lenses. And, that is a great way to get gear that fits what you want to shoot. It also opens you up to breaking your budget and agonizing over the multitude of lenses you might consider. What if it's in single shot mode?

And, that is a great way to get gear that fits what you want to shoot. It also opens you up to breaking your budget and agonizing over the multitude of lenses you might consider. A simpler approach is to go with the kit lens (which tend to be pretty capable overall) and spend time getting comfortable with your camera and get a feel for what you're shooting and where the kit is deficient for your needs. Depending on your budget getting the 50mm 1.8 is a good next step as far as lenses go (or the 50mm 1.4 if the extra $200+ isn't problematic). It's easy to get sucked into gear discussions and wanting more better lenses and a pricier body. But, the reality is that just about all gear if full of are compromises (zoom vs. prime, IQ, build quality, size, cost, etc.) and the next best lens is always just another $100 or $200 more. You can probably wait on all that and just spend time taking pictures and getting to know what you're doing and what the limitations of your camera kit are. Any current DSLR you buy will be capable of great pictures. My T1i has served me well for 2+ years now. Great advice. Learn your camera first then decide what direction you would like togo. Worry about other gear later on down the road. -JP-

I bought a refurbished 60D in December and it came to me with a shutter count of like 70. I saved a boatload of money, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of not only the refurbished 60D I bought from Canon, but also the 50 1.8 and 55-250 I picked up refurbished at the same time from Canon. They were having a 15% off sale right before Christmas on refurbished EOS DSLR's, lenses and flashes.
