I got lasik 2 years ago, and love it....went from practically blind to 20/15 in left eye and 20/30 in the right. Makes using the camera easier, but I really did it for daily life... Best thing to do is find a good doctor and don't cheap out!

I have glasses/contacts and have no desire to change. My dad had lasik several years prior and, for the most part, hasn't complained. He does have trouble with night vision, but I guess that could also be age. ;)

Wow, I had no idea photographers were such wimps. Lasik surgery is so safe these days that I wouldn't even blink an eye (pun intended) to have it done if needed. I have at least 6 friends that have all done it, and say it's the single best thing they have ever invested in. My eyes are barely bad enough to need glasses after starring at the computer screen all day, but you better believe I'll be waiting in line when the time comes. My only advice would be to look into having it done in Canada. Apparently they have some fantastic doctors that are also the most experienced, and cost a lot less. Vancouver is where a friend had it done, and he got the surgery and a vacation in Vancouver for the price it would have cost in the states for the surgery alone.
PS. I'd rather have a machine touching me, than a doctor who isn't willing to admit his arthritis is getting worse.
